How to spot a fake Louis Vuitton Bag, is authentic the article that you are trying to buy?
English Version for my readers!
Champagne, macarons, museums, the Palace of Versailles and the definition of luxury par excellence and like many of the good things in life; Louis Vuitton also comes from France. A leader in the fashion, luxury and lifestyle sector, it is today one of the most coveted brands in the world and so much so, that counterfeiters are flooding the market with imitations of the classic bags and other accessories, increasing their popularity. Louis Vuitton and other accessories, increasing their perception of "quality", making it much more difficult to recognise the real thing, but not impossible. Follow these tips from my expert eye to find out what might be practical for you when buying a genuine handbag with the assurance that it is Louis Vuitton authentic bag with the assurance that it's not a fake.
Remember that a Louis Vuitton item offers a luxury "experience" from the very first moment, they are meticulously created and even the smallest detail you can imagine is controlled. Generally, the stamps and design of a Louis Vuitton bag are good indicators of authenticity but looking at other minor details, such as the material and what you might consider "insignificant" details such as stitching or seams, can help you discover if the bag is authentic or not.
If you wish to buy a Louis Vuitton item outside of the brand's parent company or through a retailer; because it is a second hand item and/or for any other reason, I have put together a short list of some basic and essential points you should know when buying a Louis Vuitton item in these circumstances. But bear in mind that if you don't have a trained eye you may not be able to tell the difference at first glance, there are very "good" fakes on the market.

We'll start by talking about the most obvious, the Main Seal.
The Louis Vuitton stamp on each bag is extremely important in identifying the authenticity of a bag; it is often a very telling sign as to whether or not the item is a fake, but be aware that this alone is not enough.
To begin with, the lettering should be very clear, fine, crisp and, of course, fully legible but have a "soft" appearance.
The tail of the letter 'L' should be very short, and the letters 'O' should be very, very round and look a bit bigger than the 'L'.
The two 'T's in the word 'Vuitton' almost always touch slightly but never merge, the font should always be in capital letters, except where it says 'made in France' although the fact that another country appears does not mean that the bag is a fake as these bags are also manufactured in other parts of the world such as Spain or the United States.
If the spelling is incorrect in any way, then don't buy it! Letters cannot be too big, nor can they be too small.
Zips, chains and metal accessories.
A huge and clear difference between a genuine bag and a fake one is cleverly found in the most basic elements as I said before, for example; in the zips, chains and any metallic accessories they have.
Metal fittings and the zip must be of real metal with a gold coating. There must be no tarnish on the metal. It should look shiny. If the material is plastic or if it looks stained, it is likely to be an imitation bag.
Die-cutting and/or embossing must be clean and precise on the material. You must be able to easily distinguish the words Louis Vuitton on the bag's zip and other metal parts.
On some models you can find the LV logo on the metal. If the bag has snaps or zips, but no logo on them, it is likely to be a fake.
Remember that all the metallic finishes used on Louis Vuitton bags feature a specific die-cut with the brand's logo or name.
Date of Birth
It is important to know that bags or any Louis Vuitton item made before the 1980s did not carry a date code, but everything made after that does. It is found on the piece of leather on one side of the bag, or on the side next to a seam. It should always be easy to find. Unless the bag is older and the date code has been removed, it should always have it. Many counterfeiters leave this crucial aspect off their copies. Date codes are made up of combinations of numbers and letters, with the former indicating the month and year of manufacture, and the latter indicating the place of production.
You can look on the internet and try to find the factories where they are made to check what is in your potential new and attractive partner.
If a bag was manufactured in December 2005 in France, for example, the date code could be VI1025. VI' represents the location of the factory in France; the first and third digits would refer to December; the second and fourth digits would refer to 2005.
Always check the current Louis Vuitton dating standards before making your purchase, as the alphanumeric system is constantly changing. To find out where your Louis Vuitton bag or accessory was made, you can contact me and request authentication.
If it is an antique bag, look for signs of patina on the bag's handles (this is classic).
Over time, the handles of a Louis Vuitton will change shade to a dark brown or even a brownish red.
This is the result of oxidation or ageing of the leather as it absorbs sweat and oils from the owner's contact skin through use. This colour change is called the patina. It is a normal part of the ageing process of leather. If you find a bag that is advertised as vintage or second hand but does not have patina, it is likely to be a counterfeit. There are exceptions though.
Seams and Material Quality
Please note that all finishes on Louis Vuitton bags and other Louis Vuitton products are completely impeccable.
Seams must be completely straight, with no protruding threads and no errors.
The quality of the material must be top quality, the leather and/or canvas must have a soft and exclusive feel.
If there are signs of glue or an uneven finish, leave it in place. You can be sure it is not the bag you are looking for.
I repeat, each and every rivet, seam and finish must be impeccable, no matter how old the bag is.
The inner lining
If you still have doubts about whether it is an original bag or article, this factor will be the decisive one to clear any doubts you may have. The inner lining of the bag must be as perfect as the bag is on the outside. So no matter how good the exterior imitation is, if the piece is not authentic, the inner lining will be of inferior quality.
Louis Vuitton bags and accessories are usually made from a single piece of leather, so there should be no patches or interrupted or mismatched borders, and the print, if any, should be completely straight, resulting in a monogram and a very symmetrical aesthetic silhouette on both sides. If on the one hand the bag is perfect, but on the other hand it doesn't suit you, then let it go, the bag should look aesthetically harmonious and equal from all angles.
THE PRICE! and the conditions of sale.
This is perhaps one of the most important points and obviously, if you are offered a Louis Vuitton bag in a physical or online shop for much less than what it might cost (depending on the condition of the bag of course) it could be an inevitable sign of fakery.
Any seller claiming to have bags from a "list reseller" is probably selling fake bags. Louis Vuitton does not have retail outlets and does not sell wholesale. Any seller who claims otherwise is not to be trusted.
If you come across a seller claiming to have bags on clearance, then these are likely to be fake, Louis Vuitton does not offer discounts, let alone (clearance) prices.
In some cases the original packaging and even the purchase invoice are preserved, if it matches in all aspects concerning the item it would be of great help but you can't rely on it alone if the rest doesn't match.
